Kooth
What is Kooth?
The service consists of an online counselling and advice website at Kooth.com with referral pathways to specialist and face-to-face services.
The rationale for the service is that, in providing the easy to access and use service for use at the onset of problems, children and young people will not need other more acute services later on.
Specifically it includes:
- online assessment and counselling by a team of qualified counsellors
- referrals by the counsellors, when necessary, into specialist multi-agency staff or services that carry out face-to-face interventions
- moderated, peer support message boards
- an in-house created online magazine with articles about relationships, family and friends, emotions, work and money, health, sexual health, domestic violence, self harm, drugs and alcohol and staying safe
- a dedicated section of the site for young people in care called Kooth Plus launched which includes an interactive, electronic version of the Personal Education Plan, moderated group chats around issues of interest to young people in care and tailored content channels
- a local news section and a fully, moderated blogging section
- localisation of the website and integration of the service into the multi-agency environment of the local area
- consultancy and change management services to the local authority and/or Primary Care Trust
- marketing of the service to young people
- reporting and data analysis
